Want Something? Try This.

Most of us have heard about manifestation. It's often packaged as this shiny, high-vibes-only practice where you just think good thoughts and poof, your dream car appears. But that's not how it works for most of us, and honestly, it can feel pretty isolating when you're trying to stay positive while also navigating real life.
It's Not About Faking It
The truth is, you don't have1 to pretend to be happy all the time to manifest what you want. In fact, trying to force a positive mindset when you're feeling down can be exhausting. It's like trying to hold a beach ball underwater – eventually, it's going to pop up with even more force. Your feelings are real, and they deserve to be acknowledged, not suppressed.
Think about it: when you're genuinely excited about something, you don't have to work hard to feel good. The good feeling is a natural byproduct of your excitement. Manifestation works similarly. It's not about fabricating a feeling; it's about aligning with the feeling that naturally arises when you imagine having what you desire.
Feeling Everything at Once Isn't a Setback
Sometimes you'll want something really badly, and at the same time, you'll feel fear, doubt, or even sadness. This isn't a sign that you're doing it wrong. It's a sign that you're human. Your emotions are complex, and they often exist in layers. You can feel excited about a new job opportunity and also be terrified of the change it brings. These feelings aren't mutually exclusive, and they don't cancel each other out.
Allowing yourself to feel the full spectrum of your emotions – the good, the bad, and the messy – actually creates more space for what you want to enter your life. When you stop fighting your feelings, you release a lot of internal resistance. It's like clearing out a cluttered room; suddenly, there's more space for new things to come in.
What to Actually Do
Instead of chasing a constant high, try practicing gentle awareness. Notice what you want. Really sit with that desire. Then, notice all the feelings that come up around it. Is there excitement? Fear? A sense of possibility? A pang of doubt? Just notice them, without judgment. You don't have to fix them or push them away. Just acknowledge their presence.
Once you've acknowledged your feelings, you can then gently redirect your focus to the feeling of having what you want. Not in a forced way, but in a curious, imaginative way. What would it feel like if that desire were already here? What would your day look like? How would you carry yourself? Let that feeling expand, even if it's just for a few moments.
This isn't about ignoring the tough stuff; it's about making peace with it. It's about saying, "Okay, I feel this fear, and I also feel this desire, and I'm going to allow both to exist." When you do this, you create a much more authentic and powerful energetic space for your desires to unfold. It’s a softer, kinder way to move toward your dreams.
So, the next time you're manifesting, don't worry about being 'high vibes only.' Just be honest with yourself. Acknowledge your feelings, make space for them, and then gently turn your attention to the feeling of having what you want. It's a much more sustainable and human approach to bringing your desires to life.
