A Simple Ritual for Clearing Your Space
Sign in to keep this for your altar.
Sometimes, you just need to hit the reset button on your space. Maybe things feel a little stale, or you've had some heavy conversations, or the New Moon is coming and you want to make room for new energy. You don't need a lot of special equipment to do it.
Gather Your Essentials
Look around your kitchen and bathroom. You probably have everything you need: a candle (any kind will do), some salt (table salt, sea salt, whatever you have), and a glass of water. That's it. Your breath is the final, crucial ingredient.
Set the Scene
Find a quiet corner. Light your candle. This isn't just for light; it's a focal point, a tiny flame of intention. Take a few deep breaths. Really let your shoulders drop. Feel your feet on the floor. You're not trying to achieve anything perfect here, just creating a moment of calm.
The Salt and Water Sweep
Take a pinch of salt and sprinkle it lightly around the edges of the room, or in areas that feel particularly stagnant. As you do, imagine the salt absorbing anything heavy or unwanted. Then, take your glass of water and walk through the space again, gently flicking a few drops with your fingers. Think of the water as washing away what the salt has gathered, refreshing everything.
Breath and Intention
Stand in the center of your space. Close your eyes if that feels comfortable. Take three slow, deep breaths. With each inhale, imagine drawing in fresh, clean energy. With each exhale, release anything lingering. You are the most powerful tool for clearing your space.
When you're done, blow out the candle, thanking it for its light. Pour the water down the drain, imagining the old energy flowing away. Your space feels lighter, and so do you. This is a lovely thing to do before a New Moon, making space for new beginnings.
