The Eclipse You Didn't Ask For
Sign in to keep this for your altar.
Most of the time, life moves in a straight line. You make a plan, you work the plan, you adjust the edges when things get frayed. It feels manageable. You know who you are in your kitchen, at your desk, inside your friendships.
Then the sky shifts, and the floor drops out of an area you thought was completely secure.
We are sitting underneath a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo. If you read the internet lately, you might think this means you need to put on a gold sequin jacket and reinvent your entire personality by Tuesday. You do not. That is not what this weather feels like.
What This Actually Feels Like
Right now, this transit feels less like a grand entrance and more like a sudden draft in a room you thought was tightly sealed.
A solar eclipse is a reset button that you didn't press. A New Moon is normally a quiet time to set intentions, but when you add an eclipse to the mix, those intentions get hijacked by fate.
Leo energy is about your core, your warmth, your right to take up space. But when the moon blocks the sun—even temporarily—it creates a shadow over the exact places where you have been performing instead of living.
You might notice a sudden, startling intolerance for things that used to just annoy you. A job description that used to feel safe now feels like wearing shoes three sizes too small. A dynamic with a friend or a partner that you usually manage to smooth over suddenly makes your teeth ache.
You didn't plan for this crack in the wall. You were busy keeping things running. But the light is hitting the dust motes, and you can see them clearly now.
The Trap of Fixing It Too Fast
The immediate instinct when things feel unstable is to grip the wheel tighter. You want to fix the project, have the conversation, schedule the meeting, and put the lid back on the pot.
Stop doing that.
An eclipse isn't asking you for a strategy. It is showing you where your old container is simply too small for your current life. You cannot negotiate your way into a bigger version of yourself using the same logic that got you stuck in the small version.
If something is ending right now—a project, a certainty, a way of thinking about yourself—let it leave without a forensic investigation. You do not need to understand every moving part to admit that the machine has stopped working.
Working With the Heat
Leo is a fire sign, and fire requires fuel. Right now, that fuel is your honesty.
You do not need a complicated ritual with twenty ingredients and an altar cloth. You just need a blank piece of paper and ten minutes where nobody is asking you for anything.
Write down the thing you are most afraid of losing right now. Then, write down why you are holding onto it. Is it because you love it, or is it because you are terrified of who you will be without the routine of managing it?
Burn the paper, or tear it into tiny pieces and throw it in the trash on your way out the door.
Let the ego take a backseat this week. It is allowed to feel bruised. It is allowed to mourn the tidy story you were telling about where you would be by now.
You are stepping into a beginning you didn't ask for, shaped by conditions you wouldn't have chosen. But the view from this new room is undeniably honest. Take a breath, drop your shoulders away from your ears, and let the old script go.
