Wanting What You Are Embarrassed To Admit
Sign in to keep this for your altar.
The quiet part out loud
Most advice on getting what you want tells you to stay positive. It tells you to clear your mind of doubt, keep your energy high, and ignore anything that feels small or petty.
That advice is exhausting. And it usually doesn't work.
Because the truth is that a lot of what we want is a little embarrassing. We want the approval of someone who hurt us. We want financial security so we can look down on the people who doubted us. We want to be admired, or envied, or simply left alone with a lot of money.
If you try to paste a shiny, spiritual gloss over those desires, you just end up hiding from yourself. The real work of letting something into your life starts much lower to the ground.
Naming the real desire
Try an experiment. Sit down with a blank piece of paper and write out what you actually want. Not the noble version. Not the version you would share in a group therapy circle or post on a vision board.
Write down the raw thing.
Maybe you want your ex to see you looking happy and successful. Maybe you want enough cash in the bank that nobody can ever tell you what to do again. Maybe you just want to feel important for one afternoon.
Look at it on the page. Do not judge it. Do not try to purify it into something holy.
Desire is just energy. It is raw material. A seed does not care if the soil is sophisticated; it just needs dirt. When you stop pretending you only want pure, elevated things, your nervous system finally relaxes. You are no longer wasting energy performing goodness for an imaginary audience.
The grit of allowance
Manifestation gets framed as a mental trick. People think if they just visualize hard enough, the universe drops a package at the door.
Actually, allowing something to happen feels a lot like grief. It feels like making space for a change that might disrupt your comfort.
When you genuinely want something, you have to tolerate the awkward phase between wanting it and having it. That phase is full of doubt. It is full of old habits whispering that you do not deserve it, or that you are foolish for trying.
High vibes only culture tells you to push those thoughts away. Grounded reality tells you to let them sit right there in the room with you while you keep going anyway.
You do not need to feel confident to get what you want. You just need to stop lying about what you are aiming at.
A small place to start
Tonight, before you go to sleep, pick one thing you want. Just one.
Admit it to yourself without any qualifiers or apologies. Say it in your head, or whisper it into the dark room. Acknowledge that you want it simply because you are human and you are allowed to want things.
Let the desire be what it is. Then let it go for the night and go to sleep. You do not have to hustle for it right now. You just have to stop running away from it.
