Aspect

Venus sextile Jupiter

Venus sextile Jupiter is taste with reach. Venus decides what registers as worth having — eros, magnetism, value on one side of a chart, values, what you find worth paying for on the other — and Jupiter is the enlarging body, read for expansion, opportunity. At this angle the two stand two signs apart, in elements that differ and get on, which makes them available to each other rather than entangled.

It is the comfortable end of the Venus–Jupiter pairing, and the comfort is precisely what makes it easy to leave alone. Two bodies in easy contact are under no obligation to do anything about each other.

An arrangement rather than a temperament

A sextile joins signs of two different elements that happen to work well together, which is a milder relation than the one a trine describes. The two faculties are not versions of each other and neither is doing the other's work. Anything that passes between them has to be carried across on purpose.

Pointed at Venus, enlargement stops being a question of quantity and becomes a question of audience. Venus judges what is worth having; Jupiter is the part that assumes other people would like it too. What the two produce together is not a larger appetite — that belongs to the harder contact between them — but a transmissible one. A preference that travels, gets passed on, and turns out to be catching.

The catch is structural rather than moral. Nothing in a sextile starts anything. A chart can carry this pairing and yield, across a whole life, an ordinary generosity and no more than that; the same pairing in a life full of occasions produces someone other people quietly credit with their own good taste. The geometry is identical in both. The difference is whether the two were ever asked to work at the same time.

Money, where both of these are already at work

Both bodies turn up in a money reading and they answer different halves of the question. Venus is values, what you find worth paying for. Jupiter is expansion, opportunity — what could be larger, and who else could be reached.

In easy contact the two rarely produce anxiety about money, and rarely produce much discipline about it either. What they produce is willingness: to spend on an occasion rather than an object, to back a person early, to treat the better version as obviously worth the difference. Read plainly that is a spending style, not an income.

It is also the pairing underneath the most durable sort of small commercial luck — being pleasant to buy from. Worth naming, because from outside it looks like personality and is closer to a skill, and a skill nothing in this arrangement obliges anybody to develop.

What decides how much of it shows

The pair of elements sets the tempo. Fire with air is quick — the thing gets said out loud and somebody acts on it that week. Earth with water builds slowly around a preference instead of announcing it, and a chart running at that speed can look from outside as though nothing much is happening.

This angle is counted across less room than any other contact, so a Venus–Jupiter sextile sitting at the outer edge of what still counts is a faint thing. The close ones are the ones that show.

And what else touches either body decides whether any of it is spent. Something in the chart, or in the life, has to supply the occasion — an audience, a job, a person who asks — because neither of these two is built to insist.

Questions

Is Venus sextile Jupiter a lucky aspect?
It is a workable one, which is a smaller claim. The pairing supplies warmth and reach and no reason whatsoever to use them, and what gets called luck afterwards is usually a run of small decisions to say yes. A chart carrying this that nobody ever acted on looks exactly the same on paper.
How does it differ from the square between the same two bodies?
The square sets them at odds about proportion, so it acts whether or not anyone wants it to: the enthusiasm arrives on its own and the cost turns up later. The sextile does nothing unasked. One is a habit to be managed, the other an offer standing open.
Where would this be noticed?
Usually in other people's reactions rather than in oneself — recommendations that get taken, invitations that get accepted, a knack for making an ordinary thing feel worth turning up for. It is easier to see from outside, which is part of why it goes unspent.
