Love in the birth chart
Love is not one place in a chart. The tradition reads it from Venus, Moon, Mars and from the 5th, 7th, 8th houses — attraction, emotional safety and desire, each held by a different part of the map.
That is why two people can both be described as romantic and mean entirely different things by it.
Three faculties, not one
Venus is eros, magnetism and value — what registers to you as worth wanting. The Moon is emotional safety, what feels like home. Mars is desire and pursuit, the part that moves toward.
A chart in which those three agree produces a straightforward romantic life. A chart in which they want different things produces most of what people actually come to astrology to ask about.
The houses add where rather than what: the fifth for play and the spark, the seventh for committed partnership, the eighth for intimacy and what dissolves you.
Where to start
The contacts between those planets are usually more informative than any one of them alone. An aspect describes a negotiation, and a negotiation is a story.
