Venus
Venus is the part of a chart concerned with attraction and worth. In matters of love it stands for eros, magnetism and value; in matters of money, for values — what you find worth paying for. Those are the same faculty pointed at two different questions, which is why the planet of romance is also the planet of taste.
The tradition places it at home in Taurus and Libra, exalted in Pisces, in detriment in Aries and Scorpio, in fall in Virgo.
What it is doing in a chart
Venus is counted among the personal planets, the ones that move quickly enough to describe a person rather than a generation. Where it falls says less about who you love than about what registers to you as lovely, and those are not the same question.
Its two homes pull in different directions and both are Venus. One is steady, sensory and slow to let go. The other is social, comparative and interested in fairness. A chart leans one way or the other, and the lean shows in what a person calls beautiful.
What changes the reading
A planet is not read alone. The sign colours it, the house says where it operates, and a contact from another planet can bend it considerably — Saturn slows it, Mars quickens it, Neptune blurs its edges.
